Why did the Office of the Auditor General require GRA expertise when conducting investigations into the Polar Beer scam

Dear Editor,

In light of the denial by the Auditor General that GRA personnel have been co-opted into the multiagency task force investigating the Polar Beer scam, I would respectfully ask your reporter covering this story to find out from the said Auditor General since when it became necessary for the task force to require the expertise of GRA staff in conducting their investigations.
Also, if the GRA staff were only there to offer technical support, why were Messrs Gavin Low and R Sukhnandan, both of whom are Assistant Comissioners (ag) and one of whom was the head of the Internal Affairs Unit at the time of the alleged smuggling ring, allowed to be part of the interview of the three most recently dismissed officers.
Your reporter should then question both of these senior officials of the GRA to confirm that it was based on these interviews done in the presence of the other task force members that a report was filed to the Commissioner General, purportedly leaving the fate of the men up to the Commissioner General. In short, the task force was used by the GRA as an ad hoc disciplinary tribunal.
Yours faithfully,
Rajin Ratnamala
